Ameristar Opens New Casino Hotel in Colorado

Ameristar Casinos Incorporated has opened the state of Colorado's biggest casino hotel, a 536-room tower in Black Hawk that aims to attract customers who previously have played outside of the three casino towns of Colorado.

The thirty-three story hotel at Ameristar Casino Black Hawk offers wireless web access in each room as well as a rooftop swimming pool and a spa within the facility. The Las Vegas-based gaming organization has improved staffing levels at the eight-year old casino property by forty-five percent in the past year to accommodate the new hotel facility and expected increased in customer traffic.

Governor Bill Ritter participated in a groundbreaking ceremony on October 8th, 2009. With the numerous "Las Vegas-style" amenities featured there and the increase wagering limits that that took effect in Colorado on July 2nd, 2009, Ameristar Casino officials believe that they can effectively compete to attract the players who usually frequent more established and well-known gaming cities outside of the state of Colorado.

Ameristar Chief Executive Officer Gordon Kanofsky said that Ameristar remains very enthusiastic about the prospects of Black Hawk. He said that their $235 million investment in this casino expansion will generate more economic growth by attracting tourists who would usually spend their entertainment dollars elsewhere.
