The Isle of Capri Group Intends to Buy Casino Aztar

As of March 13, 2007, the Isle of Capri Casinos Incorporated, which is based in St. Louis, may be the front bidder in a private bidding held to determine the purchaser of Casino Aztar in Caruthersville, Mo. The Isle of Capri, which has moved their company headquarters from Biloxi, Mississippi just last year after Hurricane Katrina devastated most of the Mississippi area, is the operator of the Isle of Capri Casinos in Kansas City and Boonsville, Mo.

The officials from the Missouri Gaming Commission and the Bank of America, which are handling the current sell off for the Columbia Sussex Corporation from Kentucky, are keeping details about the potential sell-off completely under wraps. A decision about the proposal will be released this week.

The Casino Aztar is a good buy, containing about 651 slot machines and about 25 casino games that are housed on a 21,400 sq ft casino gaming floor. The Casino Aztar, which is a riverboat casino, earned around $28.4 million last year. The Ameristar Casino in Kansas City has paid double the amount the Casino Aztar paid to the state in total taxes.
