The billboards announced "Construction's Finished. Let's Rock!" And party they did-celebrities, business owners, curios Detroit residents all congregated to the newly completed MotorCity Casino Hotel. The Detroit Rock City party on September 12th, 2008 was MCC's way of thanking their loyal patrons and introducing new players to the establishment.
There were sliders, sushi, Wellington Beef, Chinese Stir-fry, an ice cream bars and numerous bars featuring $1 bottled beers and cocktails because casinos are not legally allowed to offer free drinks. "America's Got Talent", Nuttin'But' Stringz entertained the crowd with their performance. Non-celebrities were also impressed with the whole party. Detroit resident Mary Grace Wilbert commented that she has attended several casino opening celebrations but this was the best so far. She said that the party is very beautiful and the she really liked the 1,886 seat Sound Board Theater.
