Paragon Development to Handle New Vancouver Casino

The BC government made an announcement on March 26th, 2010 that a lot of Canadians are eagerly waiting for. A casino facility will be constructed in Vancouver and it will be directly connected to BC Place. It has long been expected that a casino expansion was in the works.

Paragon Development currently manages the Edgewater Casino, but the plans are for the Edgewater Casino to be relocated. The new gaming facility will also be managed by Paragon Development and the group has reached an agreement for a 70 year lease on the facility where the new gaming establishment will be constructed.

Emotions were high on Friday when Premier Gordon Campbell stated that he is very happy to confirm what many people have been talking about for a long time. Premier Campbell's remarks came at a news conference in BC Place. All groups involved in the casino issue are very happy with the announcement.

Paragon Head Scott Menke said that they are going to construct a destination supported by two hotels. He added that it he hopes that the destination will help not only the economy of Vancouver but the residents as well.

The project will take several years but it will also bring thousands of new employment opportunities in the area. Temporary casino construction jobs will be available for interested individuals and as permanent hotel and casino jobs will be available once the project is finished.

The casino is expected to be completed in 2013 but there are still some problems that need to be solved. The initial step in the process will be the approval of the Vancouver city officials for a rezoning application.
