Tropicana Casino Resort Creates their Casino Executive Management

On March 7, 2007, the Tropicana Resort and Casino announced that they have created their casino executive management team under the new owner, Columbia Entertainment. The new Casino General Manager, Larry Johnson, will supervise the day-to-day operations of the Tropicana Resort and Casino's 61,000 gaming area.

Larry Johnson transferred from the River Palms Casino and Resort in Laughlin where he held the same position. Aside from that, he previously held top executive positions at Harrah's Las Vegas, Black Hawk Gaming and Development and Ameristar Casino. Larry Johnson also commended his casino management policies and success in giving undisputed customer service and imposing an open door policy for their employees. He is looking forward to the challenges that being the operations supervisor of the casino will bring him.

Penny Baratta was named the Casino General Manager and has been part of the Tropicana Team since 1979, where she was still a dealer. Over the years, she has contributed to the advancement of the Tropicana property in both supervisory and managerial roles. Her pragmatic attitude and efficient management of cost, outstanding customer service attitude and employee motivation will be a good asset for the company.

Ms. Melissa Steinberg has been Vice President of Player Development since April 2006. She has 25 years of experience in the gaming industry, acquiring knowledge of both the marketing and casino operations in the organizational field. She has already drafted many marketing and promotional activities that are applicable for large casino gambling markets like Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Ontario and Nassau, Bahamas.

Rick Campbell will be the new Director of Marketing bringing 16 years of experience in the entertainment and special event planning market and 9 years of experience in casino marketing with him. Before accepting the position of Director of Marketing in Tropicana, he held the same position at Caesar's Indiana. Some of the previous positions that he held are Director of Marketing at WinnaVegas Casino in Iowa, Vice President and General Manager of Mid-America Events and Entertainment in Kansas City and the former Marketing Manager at the Flamingo Casino, a position that he retained when the Isle of Capri bought the property in Kansas City and Missouri and re-launched it under the Isle of Capri.

Aside from the new management team, Tropicana will be celebrating their 50th anniversary on April 4, 2007 with a matching gala dinner party set for March 31, 2007 for important guests, local VIP guests and some Tropicana players. In the latter part of this year, a planned multi-billion dollar expansion project will take place for Tropicana.
